first_imgClark County’s third-largest city is holding its biggest community celebration of the year this weekend.A new feature at Battle Ground Harvest Days, which started in 1967, was one of the most popular events on Saturday: a reptile petting zoo, featuring a Chilean red-haired tarantula, a boa constrictor and a tegu, which is a kind of lizard. Amy Tanska, executive director of the Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce, said there was a huge crowd of kids at the petting zoo for hours on Saturday. “I’m all about animals and education and combining them in any way,” said Tanska, who previously worked at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington and the Humane Society of the United States.A carnival followed the popular Harvest Days Parade, which this year featured a theme of “Beautiful, Bold, Brilliant Battle Ground.” Another big hit was Harvest Nights on Friday, which was centered around a classic car cruise. Tanska estimated more than 20,000 people enjoyed this year’s Harvest Days as of early Saturday evening.last_img read more
