Alan Campbell has been voted Reading Buses ‘Star of the Year’ for 2018 at a presentation ceremony in the Concert Hall, Reading.Alan, 59, of Southcote, a service supervisor who has worked for Reading Buses for nearly eight years, was described as an ‘amazing all-rounder’ who cares about every aspect of his job.Martijn Gilbert, Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer, says: “Alan demonstrates all the Reading Buses values of unrelenting customer focus, being caring, doing the right thing, staying safe and healthy, constantly creative and having fun.“He is an outstanding role model and ambassador for Reading Buses.”Also in the final were Pratap Shrestha, 38, of Caversham who has worked for Reading Buses for nine years and was Driving Star of the Year, and Steve Hamblin, of West Berkshire who has worked for the company for just under a year, who was Engineering Star of the Year.Says Martijn: “I am so proud to be crowning these three stars as our shining lights of the company. They show what a role model looks like and have truly shone this year to become our top stars.“It has been an amazing year of awards with a whole host of fantastic external achievements which have celebrated our people and their work in the community.”
BY KEVIN TEME The Annual Port Moresby Corporate 9s rugby league challenge heads into the finals this Saturday at the Bava Park. Director Solomon Ravu revealed this yesterday after sending out the finals’ draws. Ravu said the Corporate 9s swings into 3 rounds of finals series with teams finishing in odd and even rankings pooled together. “All 16 teams are vying for a spot in the Cup or Plate trophies in the first weekend. However losing teams will be relegated to Bowl/Pennant divisions. After that it will be sudden death playoff until the Grand Final set for 19th October at bava Park,” Ravu said. Ravu, a former president of the biggest league in the country, Port Moresby rugby league predicts that Spidertek and Funeral Home are favorites to proceed into major trophy play offs however PWC and Westfume will give a good account this Saturday evening at the Bava Park. NCDC, Department of Finance, Brian Bell Allies, NMSA and GFI are equally strong and only winners advance. Ravu said the the organisers, Sportzevents has congratulated the teams moving into the final series and also thanked those teams bowing out of the competition. Meanwhile the teams in the competition this year are : Spidertek, Funeral Home, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Westfume, NCDC, Department. of Finance, Brian Bell (2), NMSA, Goodman Fielders, PNG Power (2), Bank South Pacific, KPMG, Bishops, Air Niugini and Avenell Engineering Systems have supported the competition well in 2019 and wish all the teams a successful final series.
